The standard 6 in the S500 is Mercedes’ latest inline 3.0-liter with 429-horsepower and 384 lb-ft. of torque. The optional V8 is a 496-horsepower twin-turbo in the S580. Both have integrated 48-volt starter-generators, come with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive, and work with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
